Delightful Divorce a myth?

You can move on to the next phase of your life as friends.

What do you do when you want a peaceful divorce?

The problem is the legal system is set up for the Parties to be at odds. Two attorneys fighting to get the best for their clients. I have clients come in all the time wanting to “do this together”. Unfortunately, as an attorney, I can only represent one person. I can do a settlement agreement for the Parties to sign. For the “do it together crowd”, this still seems like one person has more power than the other not a means to an end.

So is there a way to “do it together”?

Absolutely!

If you have two Spouses who want to work things out without causing a lot of drama, the best solution is using the Delightful Divorce Method.

What is Delightful Divorce?

This concept is all about learning what you need to know about divorce and the pros and cons of different types of division outcomes.

For example, if you want to sell the marital residence, what are the strategies you need to know that help you accomplish this as quickly as possible and as close to a 50/50 division so everything is equal. The problem is that Judge’s want you to have a specific number of what each Party receives. The good news is that there are ways to make this happen… you just have to learn them.

How do you learn the concepts without talking to an attorney? Then we are back to square one.

What about using mediation?

Mediation is a great way to hash out the specifics of the division of assets and debts, but the mediator is really can’t give you legal advice either because they are to remain neutral. So mediation can get you part of the way there, but maybe no all the way depending on your assets.

If you can’t use a lawyer because they will cause more drama and dig into your pocketbook, and you can’t use mediation because you might not understand the true concepts you need to know to truly make a division fair, what do you do?

As an attorney and mediator, I know how frustrating some people feel the process is for them. The “do it together” movement is growing pretty strong. This new generation is not about following the traditional rules about anything and, frankly, they are pushing all of us to see better ways to do things. The problem is the law is about rules. The law is about frameworks on how things are done. They are not interested in how people want to get divorced.

Watching people come into my office time and time again complaining about the way the system is set up got me thinking…

Is there a better way?

Could I figure out a way to create something for these people?

As a mediator, I could help them work together. As an attorney, I could draft up their documents. The only problem was the front end was missing… how do people get the education they need to understand legal concepts to build the division of assets that is right for them?

This is where Delightful Divorce was born. I was actually looking to serve people who could not afford an attorney learn what they need to get through a divorce acting as their own lawyer… at least for a simple uncontested divorce. Then it hit me that I could use this same platform, add on the mediation and document drafting, and boom — There would be a way for a Delightful Divorce. No drama. No attorney only helping one person. The couple finally can choose what is right for them!

Right now I am working on putting the finishing touches on this new way to do the divorce together. So if this is something you are looking for, come on over and get signed up for additional notifications on my upcoming Webinar where I explain all your divorce options so you can pick what is right for you.
