It is Just A Little Traffic Ticket… No Big Deal, Right?

Do you want your new exercise plan to include walking to work every day?

Did you know that if you get too many traffic tickets within a period of time your Driver’s License will be suspended?

A pesky little traffic ticket can do a lot of damage if…

You don’t get it amended to a non-moving violation.

Forget about it and don’t pay it.

Let’s start with your pocketbook… did you know that getting a traffic ticket will increase your insurance rates? There is no drop off after a period of time because once your rates go up they rarely go down. Try to change to another company to improve your rates… well it will still follow you. Insurance companies can see your driving record so your points will follow you wherever you go.

What would it be like if you had to get a ride to work everyday or take public transportation because your license is suspended? This can happen if you get too many points on your license within a period of time. THE DMV keeps track of your points for 3 years from the date the incident occurred. Once your license is suspended and you get caught driving anyway, the consequences start to get bigger. Each suspension is longer… 30 days… 60 days… 90 days.

How would you like to be arrested because you forgot about your court date? You heard me… forget about your ticket and miss the court date means that when you get stopped the next time, you have to go to jail and post bond sufficient to pay the fine AND you will also get a bonus of 2 more points on your record.

I have clients come in all the time… they were pulled over and threw their ticket in the glove box and totally forgot about it. Of course, they always seem to get stopped on the way to work, or their child’s baseball game, or sometime when heading to the police station is embarrassing and inconvenient. Plus, it is not always easy to explain to your Spouse about getting a ticket when you are on your way to jail either.

How do you explain to your boss that you don’t have a Driver’s License right now? I certainly have had people lose their job because they were late a few too many times. Is your job really worth not paying a little bit of money to fix this problem? Or is your marriage going to get worse because your Spouse has to drive you to work every day? Or will your friends get kind of tired of picking you up and taking you home? I certainly have had clients crack some friendships over being the client’s daily designated driver.

The cool thing is that when you hire an attorney, you can also get some extra time to pay your ticket so it does not need to be a huge hit all at once.

Goofed up and paid a ticket and worried about it now that you know it is a big deal? No problem. Did you know that if the ticket is less than a year old, we can still go back and fix it? Pretty cool, right?

You don’t want to make this mistake when it is so easy and inexpensive to hire an attorney to keep your license safe!
